Class Description

Jazz

Jazz classes explore traditional, Broadway and contemporary styles in a fun, energetic atmosphere. Classes begin with a warm-up with stresses technique, flexibility, coordination and strength, followed by progressions across the floor, center work and combinations.  Beginner students learn fundamental jazz steps and basic vocabulary through across the floor exercises and simple combinations.  Intermediate classes focus on body placement and proper technique, stretching and development of skills. Advanced classes emphasize quality of movement in addition to perfecting technique, performance skills and varied styles. .


Tap

Tap dance is a dance in which the rhythm or rhythmical variation is audibly rapped out with the toe or heel by a dancer wearing shoes with special hard soles or with taps.  Beginner students will learn basic concepts and rhythms while more advanced students will learn more intricate rhythms and combinations.


Ballet

Ballet is a classical dance form demanding grace and precision and employing formalized steps and gestures set in intricate, flowing patterns to create expression through movement. Contemporary ballet is a form of dance that opens up the doors for any style to influence a work made utilizing ballet technique. It can take on a wide variety of aesthetics, incorporating pedestrian, modern, jazz, or ethnic forms, so long as the roots of classical ballet are apparent.


Hip Hop

Hip-hop dance refers to street dance styles primarily performed to hip-hop music or that have evolved as part of hip-hop culture. It includes a wide range of styles primarily breaking, locking, and popping which were created in the 1970s and made popular by dance crews in the United States. 


Contemporary

Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements.


Tumbling

Tumbling is a form of gymnastics performed without props or equipment. Also referred to as floor gymnastics, common moves performed in tumbling include flips, somersaults, tucks, handstands and handsprings.


Combo Class

Combo classes are classes combining 3 styles of dance including Jazz, Tap and Ballet.  Dancers in this class will build the fundamental skills in order to prepare them for the level 1 classes. 


Creative Munchkins

Creative Munchkins class are for our youngest age group.  Dancers will learn very basic dance skills in Jazz, Ballet and Tap.  


Lil' Hoppers

Lil' Hoppers is a intro to Hip Hop class.  Dancers will learn the basics of Hip Hop and some Break Dancing/ Tumbling.
